STUDIO DEL PRESENTE: ATTO SECONDO
Installation, Performance, Part of REFORM Design Biennale
Social Service Club, Store Heddinge, 2021
The third act of the second study: STUDIO DEL PRESENTE. A study of the ever-changing present reality we are part of.
The first study, STUDIO DEL FRAGILE, emphasized the noticeable fragility of our time, highlighting the certain coherence between humanity and nature, and the imprints that they cause each other.
Human and nature are interacting with the artworks separately and cracks are preserved through time.
The first act of the second part of the study, STUDIO DEL PRESENTE: ATTO PRIMO, expresses how humanity and nature coexist and interact with each other through time and constant change. We tend to forget to what extent humanity and nature is connected.
Two copies of the same artwork are placed indoor and outdoor. The relation and parallels between the artificial and natural are enhanced. Human and nature interact simultaneously, leaving their own marks respectively on the indoor and outdoor artworks.
STUDIO DEL PRESENTE: INTERMEZZO is the intermission before the final act.
Human and nature are leaving their marks simultaneously on the same land art installation: a rammed earth stairway. The audience is invited but not forced, to take part in the interaction.
With STUDIO DEL PRESENTE: ATTO SECONDO the audience is forced to interact with the artwork through a dinner/performance. In the present, our existence is finite and we are part of its process and decay. A functional installation made of rammed earth adobe bricks creates the frame for community gatherings where people will directly interact with the artwork. During the following years, nature will as well take part, leaving its imprints, bringing slowly to the end of the art piece. Human and nature are leaving their marks simultaneously.
476 bricks were cast during one week by a team of six people with more than six cube meters of raw materials for approximately a five tons of total weight when compressed. Local soil (200 mt from the installation) and chalk from the area (Stevns Klint) are mixed to create a durable but as well not ever-lasting mixture.
Team: Giulio Pagnacco, Davide Malimpensa, Moshe Tadis, Martyna Majda, Benedek Kovacs, Aleksandra Krajewska, Pernille Christensen, Xavier Butcher
Chefs: Philipp Adriano Stephan, Federico Zacchè
Techincal support: Torben Andersen, Hans Henrik Jensen, Chris (SSC), Carla Camilla Hjort (SSC)
